Arianna Escobar Marin, L.M., C.P.M.

Arianna is a Licensed Midwife, monitrice, and postpartum birth worker.

Arianna was born and raised in Venezuela, and moved to California when she was 18 years old to learn English. She attended college and graduating with an Associate’s Degree in 2008 and then completed a 200 hour Yoga, Somatic, and Movement Therapist certification in 2014 before teaching yoga for several years.

Arianna’s introduction to midwifery came during her first pregnancy in 2015 where she sought out more compassionate and empowering care and met Paula Tipton-Healy, who was her midwife and helped bring her son into the world at home. After the birth of her son, she became invested in birth and committed that if she was still in love with birthwork after her second child, then she would begin midwifery education. After the birth of her daughter in January of 2018 with Paula as well, she quickly began her midwifery education at Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery working as Paula’s student. In the midst of completing her education and getting her California midwifery license, Arianna obtained her Midwifery Certificate in Mexico in April 2020. She became a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and received her California Midwifery Medical License in February 2022. She has continued to be a part of Paula’s practice becoming Paula’s partner since receiving her license and has loved caring for clients in the same way she was nurtured during her pregnancy, birth & postpartum.

Arianna also created Amäy (pronounced uh-my) Postpartum Rituals, which involve a ceremony and processing of their birth journey, traditional herbal bath, postpartum healing soup, and traditional belly binding.

Brianna Adams, midwife

Brianna, originally from Las Vegas, NV, embarked on her educational journey towards becoming a midwife when she moved to Santa Barbara in 2015. There she studied and earned her BS in Psychology.

In 2017, she attended a DONA doula training, a pivotal step in her commitment to supporting women during labor. As a student, Brianna volunteered at a local maternity home, offering prenatal nutrition classes and doula services.

In 2019, she expanded her impact by volunteering with AmeriCorps as a Community Health Worker in Southern Utah, addressing social determinants of health. This experience underscored the strength of community and the importance of continuity of care. After completing her 12-month term, Brianna moved to San Diego to attend National College of Midwifery and commenced her clinical placement in 2020.

As a midwife, Brianna blends her foundation in psychology with specialized midwifery training, emphasizing a compassionate and empathetic approach. Her dedication extends to providing holistic care throughout the prenatal, labor, and postpartum phases, with an attention on both the physical and emotional well-being of mothers. Brianna is passionate about empowering families and ensuring that each birthing experience is a medically sound and emotionally enriching journey.

Outside of midwifery, Brianna finds joy in traveling to Mexico and exploring new destinations, often connecting with local midwives and birth workers.  She has found herself grounded living in Encinitas enjoying beach days, practicing yoga, and hiking with her dog, Itzli.

Olivia Knowles, student midwife

Olivia is a birth and postpartum doula, and a student midwife with the practice while currently attending National College of Midwifery.

Olivia was raised in Denver, Colorado and has always had an innate respect for nature, science, and human experiences. Olivia attended Cornell College, majoring in Chemistry and Biochemistry, and intended on applying to medical school before her academic advisors shared their homebirth experience with a midwife and helped redirect her path entirely. After graduating in 2020, Olivia applied and was accepted into midwifery school and moved to California to begin their next chapter.

Olivia feels that Midwifery care is sacred, empowering, and radical. She has relished in the privilege to see and support people through one of the most transformative periods of their life. Olivia hopes to one day provide care to families in Colorado. Olivia’s goal is to eventually focus on supporting queer, trans, and teenage parents with knowledge, nuance, and respect.
